Flora “Mae” Short Lankford, age 79, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014 at her residence.
Mae was born November 12, 1935 in Smith, KY, to the late Harvey Olan Short and Margaret Eva Marion Short. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Short.
Mae was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, December 1 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Pastor Sonny Wise officiating. Interment will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery – West, in Hopkinsville, KY. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
Mae is survived by her husband, Charles “Charlie” David Lankford of Clarksville; three sons, Mike (Cheryl) Lankford, Wayne Robert (Celia) Lankford, and Mark Anthony (Jacqueline) Lankford, all of Clarksville; daughter, Diana Lynn of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Sadie (Roy) Powell of Palm Coast, FL; eight grandchildren, Kara (Steven) Carman of Nashville, Michael Lee Lankford, Somer MacKenzie Lankford, JonMark Montgomery Lankford, McGuire Gentry Lankford, McClain Ashton Lankford, Madelyn Danielle Lankford of Clarksville, and Courtney (Kris) Wallace of Pleasant View, TN; and great-grandson, Landon Wallace.
Pallbearers will be Michael Lankford, John Cochran, John Fuson, Kelly Downs, Greg Lankford, Sam Grubbs, Deno Devers, and Steven Carman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
