CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville has issued a flood warning for the Cumberland River At Clarksville affecting Montgomery County.

Due to upstream water releases, the Cumberland River at Clarksville has risen to flood stage again which is 46 feet. The river is expected to vary less than half a foot on either side of flood stage through Tuesday, therefore a flood warning has been issued.

The NWS advises residents to avoid flooded areas along the river and move personal belongings to higher ground. Never drive through flooded roads as the depth of water may be too great to pass through even in trucks or sport utility vehicles. If you come across a flooded road, turn around don’t drown.

At 12pm Sunday the stage was 46.0 feet and minor flooding is forecast, and the river is expected to remain near that level through Tuesday.

Flood waters begin to impact areas along the river, including agricultural and commercial properties, McGregor Park, Liberty Park, and adjacent tributaries including Bartons Creek, Red River, West Fork Red River, and Yellow Creek.

Affected locations include South Riverside Dr near Highway 48, North Riverside Dr near Providence Blvd, Quarry Rd, Kraft St near College St, Zinc Plant Rd, Salem Rd and Seven Mile Ferry Rd.
