CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – UPDATE: The Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been canceled for the following areas:
Cheatham County
Dickson County
Houston County
Montgomery County
Stewart County
Robertson County
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Middle TN, including Montgomery County, through 10 p.m. Thursday.
More rainfall is expected throughout the day. Severe storms are possible and the heat index will reach the low 100s.
A flood advisory has also been issued for the Cumberland River in Clarksville. As of 9 a.m., the river had risen to 34.5 feet and is continuing to rise.
Forecasters predict the river to rise to about 45 feet. Flood waters will impact areas along the river.
Wednesday’s storms caused flooding and power outages for thousands in the area, and Tennessee officials declared a state of emergency early Thursday morning.
