CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) American Flags to honor the fallen were placed at Patriots Park on Fort Campbell Blvd. Tuesday. The flags represent Fort Campbell’s fallen soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11.
The flags are planted at Patriots Park each Memorial Day, 4th of July, 9/11, and Veterans Day. to serve as a reminder for those who pass by of the sacrifices that service members at Fort Campbell have made. The flags will remain at Patriot’s Park through July 9.
The tradition was started in 2011 by then Clarksville City Councilwoman Deanna McLaughlin with flags donated by members of the community. Over the years, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter 18-2 has participated in placing the flags.
