Christian County, KY (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Christian County Health Department has received information regarding the county’s first COVID-19 related deaths.
Two males, ages 76 and 86, and an 86-year-old female succumb to the coronavirus. All three had various underlying health conditions.
“We would like to send our condolences to the family during this difficult time,” officials said in a news release. “In memory of these individuals, and in memory of others who have lost lives due to COVID-19, we are asking that community members display green lighting or signs in their facility or homes to show compassion for their loss.”
Christian County currently has 36 active cases, and over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, has seen 49 cases total. We are in daily contact with active cases and have been in communication with anyone who may be a direct contact to monitor their symptoms.
“Although we have taken aggressive actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our county, now, more than ever, the Christian County Health Department would like to insist that our citizens to continue to follow the governor’s guidelines and practice social distancing, frequently wash your hands with warm water and soap, and should you exhibit signs or symptoms of COVID-19, call your primary care provider,” the statement said.
If you have been tested and are waiting on results, self-quarantine/self-isolate in your home until you have received a negative test result or have surpassed the 14 day waiting period. Failing to self-quarantine/self-isolate while awaiting test results may put others at risk for contracting the virus.
The CCHD ask that essential businesses continue to follow and enforce guidelines set by the governor to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Christian County Health Department will continue to keep our citizens updated on current cases of COVID-19 in our county as well as work closely with community partners as we fight to keep our community healthy.
