Update, 2:45 p.m.: The woman killed in the fire has been identified by CFR as Gina Michelle Wes.
“At this difficult time, we extend our deepest condolences to Gina Wes’ family and friends, whose lives have been irreversibly impacted by this heart-wrenching loss,” Rios said in a news release. “We urge the community to join us in supporting and comforting those affected by this tragic event, offering our love, sympathy and any assistance they may require during this trying period.”
Update, 9:10 a.m.: A 50-year-old woman died in the fire at the triplex apartment at 147 Darlene Drive. Montgomery County EMS pronounced her deceased at the scene, according to a news release from Assistant Fire Chief Michael Rios. The woman’s name has not yet been released.
A neighbor called 911 after smelling smoke and hearing the smoke alarm going off. The neighbor knocked on the door, then went inside the apartment and saw the smoke and smoldering fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene, performed a quick search, and brought the fire under control.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Firefighters responding to a structure fire found a person dead in an apartment near Dover Crossing.
At about 9:42 p.m. Wednesday, Clarksville Fire Rescue went to the apartment in the 100 block of Darlene Drive. The first units arrived to see light smoke coming from an apartment, according to CFR. Firefighters entered and found a body.
The identity has not been released; Clarksville Police are notifying the family. Fire investigators are were conducting an investigation.
Battalion 2 units from Stations 5, 6 and 1 responded.
