CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A fire early Saturday caused extensive damage to the Regions Bank on Lowes Dr.
Fire Chief Ray Williams with Clarksville Fire Rescue said the fire broke out just before 3 a.m. Upon arrival firefighters saw smoke coming from the building followed by flames shortly afterward.
Williams said the two-alarm fire was centered in the bank’s attic and took over three hours to distinguish. Firefighters from four stations were called to help.
No one was inside the bank at the time and no injuries were reported, but the building is a total loss.
Customers of the branch can visit other Regions facilities throughout the area to conduct business, according to Regions Clarksville City President Clarksville City President Carolyn Pierce.
“We will work to retrieve customers’ safe deposit boxes as soon as it is safe to enter. We will follow the direction of the fire department regarding when it is safe to enter. In the meantime, security is on-site to guard the Lowes Drive facility,” Pierce said.
Investigators believe after-hours construction at the bank may have caused the fire, but a final determination has not been made.
