CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A giant brush fire consumed nearly 100 acres Thursday as multiple agencies rushed to put out the blaze. Clarksville Fire Rescue, Montgomery County Volunteer Fire, Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services Emergency Management Agency all worked to put out the field fire off Charles Bell and Hampton Station Rd.

The area had to be shut down and residents were asked to evacuate. Officials have not received any reports of injuries.

The fire continued to spread southeast from the railroad tracks in the area. Finally first responders were able to bring the blaze under control with the help of farmers who supplied tractors and tillers.

Thirty-five acres of soybean was a total loss with another fifty-acre tract of harvested corn lost. It is unclear what started the fire. Residents are reminded recent dry conditions have left the area susceptible to increased risk of fire spreading.
