CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Downtown is booming with new restaurants, retail and entertainment, all ahead of the grand opening of the F&M Bank Arena. Shelby’s Trio has added to that boom with three unique dining establishments all in the same place.

Shelby’s Trio is a three-tiered restaurant complex owned by Joe and Cathi Maynard of JCM Management in Clarksville. The top level opened Feb. 10 with the Skyline 500 bar, featuring Clarksville’s first rooftop bar. On Thursday, Shelby’s Trio opened its second level, Trattoria di Cat, a place of fine dining with made-from-scratch Italian cuisine.

Sara Golden, project manager for JCM, told Clarksville Now she’s excited to bring this type of restaurant venue to downtown.

“Clarksville is growing at a tremendous rate, and to be able to bring something like this to the community, I think it’s long overdue, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Golden noted that Cathi Maynard has always wanted an Italian restaurant in Clarksville, and the name pays tribute to an upscale eatery in Italy. Translate into English, it’s called “Cat’s Trattoria.” According to Delighted Cooking, the word “trattoria” is an Italian term for a fairly casual, mid-priced restaurant. While less formal than a ristorante and more formal than an osteria, the trattoria offers simple fare and a relaxed atmosphere.

Patrons of Trattoria di Cat can expect the full treatment, from waiters in fine dress to multiple wine options and a fully stocked bar. Further, the food is all authentic and made from scratch.

“It’s authentic Italian. We are a 99% made-from-scratch kitchen, including the pasta dishes. Our pasta is homemade here in-house, along with our sauces and dressings,” Golden said. “We’ve got a lot of seafood, which is really what’s known in Italy. We’ve got red sea bass, we’ve got shrimp, we’ve got scallops. We also have spaghetti and meatballs, a traditional Italian dish. It’s a wide range of real authentic dishes from Italy.”

On the first floor of Shelby’s Trio will be Joe’s Garage, featuring displays of classic muscle cars along with classic American food. The grand opening of the entire building will take place on Monday, Feb. 27.
