CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Two suspects who have active felony warrants on file fled from a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy and crashed around 4:22 p.m. Tuesday, according to Jamie Dexter, PIO for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Cody Lannom noticed Jacob Ritchie, 21, and Brandi Smith, 25, at a business at the corner of Trenton and Needmore Roads and recognized them.

He identified himself to the suspects and Ritchie put the Chevrolet Blazer he was driving in gear and attempted to flee. When he tried to turn left onto Lowes Drive, he lost control of the vehicle, hit a curb, and overturned.

Ritchie climbed out of the vehicle and was taken into custody.

Smith had to be extricated from the vehicle by Clarksville Fire Rescue and Montgomery County EMS and was also taken into custody.

Ritchie is being booked into Montgomery County Jail and Smith will be booked after being checked by Gateway Hospital.
