CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A new FedEx distribution center is expected to open later this year in Clarksville’s Industrial Park as progress on the new facility continues to move forward.
According to Dave Hill, spokesperson for FedEx Ground, the new 250,000-square-foot facility (previously referred to as “Project Distro“) will employ a mix of full and part-time employees. FedEx will also contract with businesses that hire locally for package pickup and delivery services.
“We continue to experience significant package volume due to e-commerce growth and are optimizing the capacity of our network to meet growing demand for our services. The site was chosen because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community work force for recruiting employees,” Hill told Clarksville Now.
IDB Director of Economic Development Josh Ward told Clarksville Now the facility should employ approximately 250 people. FedEx has not yet announced the date they will begin hiring.
The new facility can be seen taking shape along the southern end of International Boulevard, across the street from Red Knight Distribution Center.
