DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – District Attorney Ray Crouch has confirmed that the father of Joe Clyde Daniels is competent to stand trial.

Joseph Daniels was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation earlier this summer. His trial is still expected to happen next March.

Five-year-old Joe Clyde was reported missing by his father in early April before he ultimately admitted to killing his son. The little boy’s body has not been found.

Joseph Daniels is charged with murder and could face the death penalty. Earlier this week, it was determined that Daniels wrote a letter to Baby Joe’s grandparents claiming the boy was still alive.

He and his wife, Krystal Daniels, remain jailed in the case.
