CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Food Initiative is hosting its annual Fine Fettle- farm to table tasting and fundraiser on August 18, 2018 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Old Glory Distilling Co.
Local farmers are partnering with nine restaurants from Clarksville to Nashville to create tasty dishes and sweets for guests to enjoy.
“I am so excited about the rock-star line up of chefs, restaurants and breweries this year,” said Regina Hampton, Program and Creative Director of The Food Initiative. “Fine Fettle is an opportunity to celebrate local food, community, and the work of The Food Initiative and it’s all happening in Clarksville.”
All proceeds will go to The Food Initiative, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to grow healthy food, empower lives, and build community. The program was established in 2008 by Patrick and Catherine Smith to bring a positive outlet for high school students in Clarksville. Through hard work on the farm and in the community, youth learn about agriculture, health, money management, hunger and homelessness, and develop leadership and public speaking skills.
The Food Initiative also hosts educational field trips, farm tours and leads agricultural workshops open to the community.
Six chefs will serve tastings made from locally grown food. The chefs include: Chef Chris DeJesus from Butcher and Bee Nashville, Chef Edgar Victoria from Virago, Chef Nate Leonard from Husk Nashville, Chef Nathan Duensing from Marsh House, Chef James Mott from Chartwells at Austin Peay State University, and Chef (and Farmer) Steve Bailey from Kindred Farm in Sante Fe, Tn.
Appetizers will be provided by Strawberry Alley Ale Works, and desserts will be created and served by Golly G’s of Clarksville and Lisa White from Marsh House and Killebrew Coffee.
Tickets include wine, domestic beer, and access to a glass of lemonade from the famous Not Just Lemonade from the Clarksville Downtown Market and can be purchased here. There will also be a cash bar for signature cocktails.
The Food Initiative is also partnering with local breweries to serve local beer to VIP guests. VIP tickets include pours from local breweries like Strawberry Alley Ale Works, The Star Spangled Brewing Co, Tennessee Vally Brewing Co, and Kings Bluff Brewery. You’ll also go home with a goody bag of items to remember the night too.
