CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Nick Sprowl, a Fort Campbell soldier who was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Aug. 20, is finally going home.
His wife Stephanie said that Nick will be able to leave the hospital Friday.
Nick has undergone multiple surgeries and has been recovering at Vanderbilt Medical Center after he was hit by another vehicle pulling out of a parking lot on Fort Campbell Blvd.
Stephanie has been by Nick’s side for the past 23 days, and she said she is excited that they can both return home to their five children.
“When he would have brief moments of coherence, the first thing he would say is ‘I want to go home.’ We’re very excited and the kids are very excited, but he still has a long road to recovery,” she said.
Nick will still require assistance from Stephanie but he is able to walk short distances on his own.
The community rallied around the Sprowl family and helped raise money for them as they went through this difficult process.
“All the support that we’ve been given from the community is overwhelming. We really appreciate it and can’t thank everybody enough,” Stephanie said.
Nick’s family and friends want to welcome Nick home with a special motorcycle escort Friday around 5 p.m. The Iron Order Motorcycle Club and the Iron Rockets Motorcycle Club will participate.
Volunteers can make welcome home signs and banners for Nick and stand either near Exit 11 or along Highway 48/13 near the marina to welcome Nick as the escort passes by.
