CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The family of Billy Pace Jr. were in Montgomery County Court Friday morning involving the case of the death of Pace and a 17-year-old juvenile who has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with his murder.

Jamie Pace, the victim’s mother, read a statement to the media after the court session. “On behalf of myself, my husband and the entire Pace family, we would like to thank each and every person who has shown concern and support for our family in our time of need,” he said.

Pace also thanked the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for their efforts in the investigation and helping to bring justice for Pace’s death.

The family is requesting that at this time they not be contacted concerning the homicide or the investigation because they are still grieving over the loss of their loved one. Pace said there will be another statement in the future when it is appropriate to address the details and the family’s feelings.

Billy Pace Sr. spoke with Clarksvillenow.com about what took place in the courtroom. “At this point we are waiting for the unnamed juvenile to be evaluated to stand trial as an adult. And at that point they’ll set a hearing for General Sessions Court for the transfer hearing to take place,” he said.

Talking about his son’s death, Pace said at first of course the family was heartbroken over the loss of his life. Once the family learned that there had been an arrest in connection with his son’s murder Pace said it went from heartbreak to anger and just wanting to get justice for Billy.
