The family of six escaped the blaze without injury and took shelter from the storm in a neighbor’s house. High winds, rain and thunder made for challenging conditions, but firefighters were able to contain the fire and bring it under control, CFR said. There were no injuries.

The fire appears to have started with an electrical issue in a pipe outside the kitchen window, according to Assistant Fire Chief Michael Rios.

Battalion 1 crews from Stations 3, 4, 2 and 1 responded to the scene. The TN River Chapter of the American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
