CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Local barber Ken Webb came to his last day of work at the Holiday Barber Shop not expecting the surprise he was met with.
Webb’s friends and family decided to celebrate his 50 years cutting hair with a retirement party complete with a banner and balloons outside the Riverside Drive store location, where Webb has worked for most of his career.
“I was shocked because I was not expecting it,” Webb said.
The Stuart County native talked about the start of his career, saying that he started cutting his father’s hair when he was just 12 years old. Webb attended college at UT Martin, and a barber there promised him a job if he would attend Barber School. His plans changed when he came to visit his brother in Clarksville and was offered a job the day after his graduation. He has worked at the Holiday Barber Shop ever since.
