CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Thursday, June 2 is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and several Clarksville residents will gather today to make their voices heard.

Families and friends of gun violence victims will march at the Montgomery County Courthouse today at 3 p.m. The participants will wear orange to show their support for the movement.

Carmen Caratini lost her 24-year-old son Fran Caratini when he was shot to death in 2014. No arrests have been made so far in the case.

Crime Stoppers revived Caratini’s case in April as part of the organization’s new effort to solve cold cases.

Carmen and others who have experienced gun violence will be present at the event. Following the march, they will release balloons near the river in remembrance of their lost loved ones.

Supporters on social media are using #WearOrange to draw attention to the cause.
