The event was hosted by American Legion Post 7 in Clarksville who purchase the American flags each year for Memorial Day.
The commander of Post 7, Charles Clark, said a past commander told him the American Legion began placing flags on veteran’s gravesites in 1948, and 1954 was when the Scouts began their involvement with placing the flags.
