CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville collected pictures and service records from local veterans last Saturday at the Public Library for the new and last “Faces of Valor Volume 5” book. This Saturday, February 25, from 9 am-1 pm will be the final Faces of Valor Collection Day at the Public Library in Veterans Plaza.
Veterans and active duty military are eligible if they ever lived in Montgomery County or were stationed at Ft. Campbell. Please bring the veteran’s picture preferably in uniform and DD-214 for the next Faces of Valor Vol. 5 to be published in June. If a picture is not available a picture can be taken.
Dr. Kevin Tanner’s APSU American History class is partnering with the downtown Kiwanis Club as a Service Learning class to help gather, write and publish this new book. The book will feature many local history articles and eye-witness accounts of life in Clarksville during different war eras.
The attached picture shows Vietnam veteran Lt. Col. (Ret) Tom Ely and his wife Donna Ely, APSU history professor Kevin Tanner, Jane Gilman and Scott Oglesby. They are taking the veterans information and scanning the pictures. Jostens will be printing the book in June.
A free copy of the book will be provided to the veteran or family. Extra copies will be available for purchase at a nominal price. The final Collection Day is this Saturday, February 25, 9 am-1pm at the Public Library in Veterans Plaza.
