CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Whether you’re a fan of Indian food or just a newbie, Tandoor Indian Bistro is a must-visit restaurant in Clarksville.

The restaurant is tucked inside the Kohl’s shopping center at 2868 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. and while the outside may appear plain, the interior of the restaurant makes up for it. It is decorated with traditional artwork and boasts plenty of tables and booths. If you want a more romantic setting, you can sit at one of the private booths with low tables, cushions, and beaded curtains.

For those who aren’t sure about what to try, the lunch buffet ($10.99) at Tandoor is an affordable option that allows you to sample several menu items.

The day we visited, the buffet included Chicken 65, Chicken Pasanda, Grilled Zucchini, Fried Spinach, Fried Eggplant Pakora, Cabbage Salad, Tandoori Chicken, Vegetable Biryani, Basmati Rice, Naan, Lentil Soup, Hummus, Navratan Korma, and salad with various dressings.

Many Indian dishes are known for having a lot of heat, but the buffet items tend to be more on the mild side. The fried vegetable options are crispy and delicious without being greasy, and the Basmati Rice provides a nice base for the chicken dishes.

The Chicken Pasanda, chicken breast cooked in a creamy yogurt sauce with various spices, is by far my favorite. It pairs nicely with the Grilled Zucchini and Cabbage Salad. The Chicken 65 with vegetables is known for its blend of 65 Indian spices, and the Tandoori Chicken is made with wings.

This is a buffet that you’ll definitely want to visit for a second plate, so come hungry. The lunch buffet is served Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday from 4:30 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

The service is good and the staff maintains a pleasant, quiet atmosphere. Dinner prices at Tandoor are a bit more expensive than the lunch options, but there is a large menu to choose from. I personally recommend the vegetable samosas, which are fried wraps filled with potatoes, veggies, and spices.
