CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Dunbar Cave State Park is a natural state area located at 401 Dunbar Cave Road in Clarksville.

The cave there is over eight miles in length, and excavations suggest that man has used it for thousands of years.  The entrance is 58 degrees all year, acting as an effective, natural air conditioner.

While country music artist Roy Acuff purchased Dunbar Cave and its surrounding park in 1948, it became a state natural area in 1973 when Governor Winfield Dunn purchased the area and designated it as such.

Today, activities and events are held there regularly, and it’s also available for reservations.  There are trails for those who like to exercise or go for a quiet walk and enjoy nature.  It’s also a worthy place to relax and the lake is frequently occupied by ducks, geese, and cranes.
