MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – The end is in sight for the SR 237 widening and I-24 interchange modification project.
The $12.9 million project, which was let to construction in October 2014, is currently on schedule to be completed by the end of May 2016.
Work continues on the new bridges over I-24. In February crews set beams for the bridge over I-24 westbound. Beams are expected to be set on the bridge over I-24 eastbound in late March or early April. The deck will be poured on the bridge over the westbound lanes in the next few weeks.
Embankment work is still underway around the interchange, as well as dressing slopes and shoulders. Erosion and sediment controls continue to be
monitored and maintained as needed.
In the next 4-8 weeks crews will finish installing storm drains, wrap up the embankment work, and begin prepping the slopes for spring seeding and
sodding operations.
There is also a final water main that will be installed which will complete all utility relocations.
After paving is finished and the pavement markings are in place the project will be opened to traffic.
The new Park & Ride facility site at Exit 11 (SR 76 / MLK Jr Pkwy) was let in February as scheduled. Construction is expected to start in May.
Remember, riders will continue to use the current Park & Ride facility at Exit 8 until the new site is completed.
