A Celebration of Life service for Evelyn D. McClain, age 92, of Palmyra, TN, will be Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gum Springs Baptist Church where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, James E. McClain. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Evelyn was born on March 23, 1930, in Lincoln Park, MI, to Jess and Ethel Donahoo. She passed on February 28, 2023. Evelyn retired from Clarksville-Montgomery County School System as a teacher after 30 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church. She loved her Yorkshire Terrier, Lady and reading.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn is preceded in death by her son, Ronald McClain. She is survived by her children: Kay (Gary) Black, Roger (Brenda) McClain, Johnny (Brenda) McClain, and Andy (LaDonna) McClain; daughter-in-law, Lenda McClain; grandchildren: Rhonda Robinson, Denise Heavener, James Black, Jessica Sanderson, Russ McClain, Jason McClain, Amanda Rodriguez, Jonathan McClain, Eli McClain, and Dalton McClain; 28 great-grandchildren; and brother, Mason “Bill” Donahoo.
Pallbearers are James Black, Jon McClain, Russ McClain, Jason McClain, Eli McClain, Dalton McClain, Bryce Robinson, and Kenny Liberstein.
