CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Reconciliation Evangelistic Outreach Center (R.E.O.C.) will host its annual True Love Waits Seminar for youth in grades 6th through 12th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 14.
This year’s theme is “Living a Pure Life and Preserving Your Body”.
True Love Waits intends to challenge teens to make a commitment to sexual abstinence until marriage.
Created by Life Way Christian Resources, True Love Waits encourages purity according to biblical principles. This youth-based international campaign also uses positive peer pressure by encouraging those who make a commitment to abstain from pre-marital sex to challenge their peers to do the same.
“It is our main goal to demonstrate, educate, create and empower them to know it’s very important that they know the truth about abstaining until marriage,” says Lydia Vinson, Coordinator for the event.
Vinson, who is also a registered nurse, is passionate about talking to people of all ages about abstinence. She daily sees patients of different ages and different backgrounds, and feels that many are uninformed on the practice of abstinence.
“Every year the seminars have been powerful and emotional especially when the youths sign their names to the abstinence pledge scroll. Everyone leaves with a new bit of truth,” she adds.
The attendees will have the opportunity to participate in panel discussion, small group activities, t-shirt design contest, skits and much more. They will also learn the Five Commitments of True Love Waits.
Registration is free but required. A parental consent permission slip is also required. Continental breakfast and full lunch will be provided.
R.E.O.C. is located at 1155 Ft. Campbell Blvd.
Guardians can call 931-645-9596 to register teens for the program.
