Erika Longey, aged 82, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024. Born on February 2, 1942, in Suddersdorf, Germany, to Wolfgang and Anna Maria Weglohner, Erika led a life filled with love, resilience, and cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lynford Longey, parents Wolfgang and Anna Maria Weglohner. Sisters (Betty, Frieda, Renate), Brothers (Erich, Fritz, and Walter), and grandson Corey Longey . A proud military wife, Erika supported Lynford throughout his service, and together they built a strong and loving family. She retired from NAF with over 30 years of service.
Erika is survived by her sons, Glenn (Rita) and Mike (Debbie); her grandchildren, Kayla (Ross) Miller, Monica Longey, and Erik Longey; and her great-grandchildren, John and McKenzie Miller. Sisters, Hedwig Korsistka, Emma Schmidthuber, Christa Hietsch, and brother Werner Weglohner and many nieces and nephews, all residing in Germany. Her family brought her immense pride and joy, and her love for them was boundless.
Erika found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, including bowling, water aerobics, and traveling. She felt blessed with the connections she built through these activities and the friendships she made.
In keeping with her wishes and her modest nature, no formal services will be held. Erika took great pride in her family’s military legacy and the life they built together. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
