CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett along with other county officials toured the newly renovated Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Station 21 Monday, November 30. The station is located at 1133 Peachers Mill Road near Kenwood Elementary School.
EMS Chief Jimmie Edwards said the construction project has doubled the capacity of the facility. A full-length bay has been added that allows two additional ambulances to be parked inside. The building now has four bunk rooms, more storage space and an improved telecommunications system.
Edwards talked about what the renovated EMS station would mean to the community. “This will increase our ability to respond by 100 percent. That equates to improved patient care and it equates to a shortened response time. So this no doubt has improved our emergency medical capability for the zone and the city,” said Edwards.
A safe room was also part of the construction which will help protect emergency personnel in case of a tornado or severe storm so they will be able to provide medical assistance to the public when they are needed.
The remodeled building has more living space for paramedics making it easier to prepare and serve meals, for studying, filling out patient care reports as well as a private area for those people who walk in and need medical assistance or other help.
A staff of five will work at the station which will include the EMS District Supervisor and two EMS personnel for each of the two ambulances.
