CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Loaves and Fishes held their annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. Linda Nichols was recognized for her work with Empty Bowls Clarksville and Mary Fisher for her years of service to Loaves and Fishes.

Linda Nichols presented Susan Chapman, Executive Director of Loaves and Fishes, and Beverly Dycus, Executive Director of Urban Ministries with a donation. The money was raised at the Empty Bowls, Hope Not Hunger event on February 28.

Each organization received a check for $11,000 and Nichols talked about the donation. “I am so pleased this year that we were able to donate $22,000 to these two agencies, Loaves and Fishes and Urban Ministries who have been serving hungry people in Clarksville for over 30 years,” said Nichols.

Chapman talked about how the money will be used by Loaves and Fishes. “It’s going to be part of our budget every year helping to keep our doors open, for overhead expenses, to purchase food and pay salaries, just to make sure we can keep the organization running,” said Chapman.

Chapman also thanked everyone who has supported Empty Bowls over the years by buying a ticket or decorating a bowl.
