CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – It’s time to put a special diner date on your calendar, a date when you can help feed those who are hungry in Clarksville-Montgomery County. The date is February 24. That’s when the eighth annual Empty Bowls Clarksville will be held at local churches.

Empty Bowls is a grass roots effort to fight hunger with proceeds raised from the event going to the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen and Urban Ministries Grace Assistance Food Pantry. The premise is simple, for a $15 donation the community is invited to a meal of soup and bread.

You’ll not only receive a meal but you can also pick out a special handcrafted bowl as a reminder of all of the empty bowls in the community. The bowls were created by the APSU Ceramics Department, volunteer potters and craftspeople and painted by many local groups, organizations and businesses.

Lunch sites for Empty Bowls Clarksville on February 24 are from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 317 Franklin Street, Grace Lutheran Church, 2041 Madison Street, New Providence United Methodist Church, 1317 Fort Campbell Boulevard and 180 Church, 3400 Trenton Road.

Dinner sites are from 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m. and include Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 709 Franklin Street, Sango United Methodist Church, 3301 Sango Road and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 801 Lafayette Road.
