CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Hundreds of people flocked to Clarksville churches Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 for the Empty Bowls – Hope Not Hunger fundraising event.
Earlier this month volunteers hand painted unique bowls, which were sold to the community along with the choice of lunch or dinner during the culminating event Tuesday. Each bowl represents a meal to help feed those in need in our community. This event will benefit local food programs, including Loaves & Fishes, Urban Ministries, and The Food Initiative.
Visitors gathered Tuesday to pick out a bowl and enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread at participating churches (Trinity Episcopal, Grace Lutheran, New Providence Methodist Church, Immaculate Conception Catholic, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, First Presbyterian, Sango United Methodist, and Salem United Methodist Church).
The Empty Bowls Clarksville program, now in its 11th year, has raised more than $200,000 since its inception to support nonprofit food programs in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.
