CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Elves, lobsters, polar bears and Lee Erwin jumped into cold water Saturday for Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s annual Polar Bear Plunge.
The event at New Providence Pool had been postponed by the ice storm, but still managed to keep a chilly 43-degree day.

The Polar Bear Plunge raises awareness and funds to support Parks & Rec’s mission of making swim lessons accessible for all. Proceeds from the event directly benefit free adaptive swim programs for individuals with special needs, as well as group swim lessons for children throughout the community, helping ensure every child has the opportunity to learn life-saving swimming skills.
Participants were encouraged to arrive in costume and take part in friendly competition, with awards for Best Individual Costume, Best Couple or Small Group, and Best Large Group.
