Elmer “Chief” Arnold Drury, 83, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Elmer was born on August 7, 1931 in Brantley, GA to the late William H. Drury and Pearl Estus Parrott Drury. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernerd Drury and Morris E. Drury and sister, Delree Statts.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Chris Edmondson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 and from noon until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
Elmer was a retired Chief Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy SeaBees and a retired Electrician for the Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville, Masonic Lodge 89, and IBEW.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Faye F. Roake Drury of Clarksville, TN; three daughters, Leslie Karen Mack (Tom), Janice Gail Sokol (David) of Clarksville, TN, and Holly Ann Drury of Lebanon, TN; two brothers, Hoydt Drury of Georgia and Dennis D. Drury of Florida; three sisters, Evelyn Kyser, Marilyn Langford of Georgia, and Wilhelmina Langrick of Florida; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tom Mack, Jim Mack, David Sokol, Darren Young, Tommy Kyser, Jackson Cooper, Joseph Peters, and Patrick Mayes.
