TODD COUNTY, Ky. – One man has been charged with assault in a shooting incident that occurred Thursday afternoon in Elkton.
The Kentucky State Police responded to a shooting call around 1:37 p.m. within the city limits.
Upon arrival, investigators determined that Jayson Stewart, 20, was handling a .22 caliber handgun when it discharged, striking a juvenile in the neck. The juvenile was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center via Air Evac for treatment and is currently listed in stable but critical condition.
Stewart was charged with Assault 1st Degree (B Felony) and booked into the Todd County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
