Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Elder, age 88, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Tennova Healthcare.
Betty was born January 2, 1934, in Monroe, LA, to the late Felix Bertram Shipp and Marie K. Reardon Shipp. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Col. Perry Elder, Jr. (US Army, retired) and their infant son, Joseph Elder.
Mrs. Elder is survived by two sons, Perry (Susan) Elder and Kevin (Jamie) Elder; two daughters, Kathy (Eric) Foster and Leslie Cook; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was a founding member of the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. She had the biggest heart and would do absolutely anything for anyone. She was selfless to the core. She lived a life so fearlessly for Christ and was the most devoted Christian. She loved quilting, knitting, working puzzles, eating ice cream, spending time with family, but mostly she had a deep love for Jesus. She was such an amazing daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister and friend. To her family, she was our Angel on earth.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 18, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, in Oak Grove, with Father Julian Ibemere officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, in Hopkinsville. Visitation will be Saturday, April 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home.
