CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Interim Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk Wendy Davis won a permanent spot in the position on Tuesday, defeating Chelsea Camp and attorney Tracy Provo Knight.

When she heard she was in the lead, she whooped in victory.

“I’m feeling great. It’s been a long, hard road. A long, hot summer, a couple of freezing cold days, but I’ve really enjoyed it,” Davis said.

“I feel blessed. I had to put it in God’s hands,” Davis continued.

Davis said she’s excited to get back to work at the office, where they have big plans for upcoming initiatives

“I’m going to go back to work tomorrow, and we’re going to keep on working,” she said. “I’m so ready to get these projects we’ve been waiting on to get done.”

Wendy Davis

Davis, 48, is the chief deputy of Administration and Technology at the Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office and has worked with the court for 24 years. She is a Northwest High School graduate and has lived in Montgomery County for 41 years.

Tracy Provo Knight

Knight, 49, is an attorney with the Batson Nolan law firm and an adjunct faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University’s College of Business. She had a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Lincoln Memorial University; a Master of Business Administration from MTSU; and a Bachelor of Science from Austin Peay State University. She was born and raised in Clarksville and has lived her a total of about 30 years.

Chelsea Camp

Camp, 31, retired from the Army in 2018 and is director of Development for Butterfly Moments Women’s Recovery Center, an organization committed to reducing recidivism. She has lived in Clarksville a total of 20 years, went to Kenwood High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Leadership & Organizational Administration from Austin Peay State University.
