CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) –Democratic state Rep. Jason Hodges kept his seat from Republican challenger John Dawson, leading with nearly 10 percent of the vote.
“I am obviously appreciative of the voters’ continued support and trust in me and we’ll keep working hard for district 67 and Clarksville,” said Hodges.
Dawson, who had previously called his campaign an uphill battle, offered Hodges his congratulations.
“I wish it had turned out in my favor, but I’m going to congratulate Mr. Hodges on that,” Dawson told Clarksville Now.
“I hope he listens and reflects on what the community’s insight is, and gets out into the community more than he has,” Dawson continued.

Hodges, 39, is the incumbent in the state House of Representatives and is Operations Manager for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. He served as s Montgomery County Commissioner from 2014 to 2018, when he was elected to state office. He has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Austin Peay State University and served in the US Marine Corps.

Dawson, 53, retired from the US Army in 2007. Until last year, he worked as a military systems project manager. He has an Associate of Applied Science degree in Aviation Technology and is working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Law and Policy at Liberty University.
