CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Republican state Sen. Bill Powers easily defeated Democratic challenger Ronnie Glynn on Tuesday.
“You know, it’s just an honor and a privilege for me to go back to Nashville and serve in the State Senate,” Powers said.
“It’s a blessing and I’m grateful to everyone who’s helped me along the way – my friends. I’m just thankful for everybody and their trust in me. God bless everybody out there and I’m ready to go to work.”

Powers, 63, the incumbent state senator, is a managing partner with Wyatt Johnson Automotive Group and previously served on the Clarksville City Council. He has a bachelor’s degree in English History from the University of Tennessee.
Ronnie Glynn took to Facebook, writing, “Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported my candidacy. I’m grateful for the hard work and effort people put into the race.”
I will always fight for Democratic values. Each and every election that we have, we must not allow the Republican supermajority to run unopposed. Democratic values deserve to be fought for every single time,” Glynn said.

Glynn, 50, is owner and operator of JumpMaster Inflatables. He retired from the Army as a master sergeant. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Trident University International.
District 22 includes Montgomery, Stewart and Houston counties.
