CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The eighth annual Turkeys for Troops event took place Saturday at Ajax Distributing, where thousands of military families lined up early to receive free Thanksgiving turkeys. This year, 2,000 turkeys were available for distribution.
The event began around 8 a.m., but families were already arriving long before sunrise. The first person in line showed up at 3 a.m., marking their second year in a row being first to arrive.

Turkeys for Troops provides free frozen turkeys to active-duty service members, veterans, military spouses, and their families as a way to show appreciation for their service. The giveaway has grown significantly since it began, becoming too large for its original downtown Clarksville location and moving to Ajax Distributing in 2023.
The event was supported by numerous community partners and volunteers, including Convoy of Hope, LifePoint Church, Legends Bank, Serra Chevrolet, Austin Peay State University, among others.
