CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – With the school year officially over, schools are no longer providing weekly curriculum or virtual discussions.

However, parents can still access educational resources during the summer. Continuing with even a small amount of educational activities, such as reading with your child for 20 minutes a day, helps combat the summer learning loss.

Traditionally, students lose between two weeks and a month of retention of instructional learning over the summer break. This year, with children missing over two months of classroom instruction, coupled with the summer holiday, parents are looking for viable options to help their child succeed.

PBS Teaching Tennessee is a virtual learning program. The partnership is through the Public Broadcasting Network (PBS) and allows students and families to have access to education and instructional content during time away from the classroom. The full schedule is available here.

Families can also access instructional videos through the State of Tennessee Department of Education’s YouTube channel.

Early childhood education is available through ReadyRosie. The virtual early childhood education platform is made possible through partnership with the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, through September. More information on ReadyRosie is available here.
