CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Easter Sunday for much of the region is forecast to be marred with heavy rain, high winds, and possible tornadoes.
The National Weather Service says Sunday morning will bring showers that will linger throughout the day with more wind and thunder as the day goes on, with the that threat for severe weather coming Sunday night.
“It looks like it’s all going to build up to a big line of powerful storms late Sunday evening. We’re looking at between 9 p.m. and midnight for some storms to roll through with some very powerful winds and we can’t rule out tornadoes unfortunately,” said Meteorologist Sam Herron.
Herron added that it’s going to be quite an Easter Sunday when it comes to weather across the entire region.
The storms are forecast to be fast moving between 50 to 60 mph and some locations could get between 2-4 inches of rain.
The National Weather Service reminds everyone to have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including a NOAA weather radio with working batteries and a cell phone.
