CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – East Montgomery Elementary School (EMES) held a celebration for veterans Friday, November 6 with a breakfast for military families, a parade along with a ceremony and other activities honoring veterans. Parents and other family members of EMES students who are veterans were invited to be a part of the celebration at the school.

“Ms. Janet Staggs, Principal of EMES talked about the importance of the event. “We have a community that has so many military people in it and we are so excited to be able to celebrate them to give something back. It’s a very small token of our appreciation for all they do in serving our country, and where would we be without them,” said Ms. Staggs.

Around 630 students from the school took part in the special veterans celebration. Guest speakers included Chief Warrant Officer Wesley Irvin Jr. who serves at Fort Campbell and Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts.
