CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Turnout has been strong in early voting in Montgomery County, with the number of ballots cast already surpassing the totals for the last two elections.
Here are the daily early voting totals so far:
- Wednesday, Oct. 16: 2,958
- Thursday, Oct. 17: 2,896
- Friday, Oct. 18: 2,925
- Saturday, Oct. 19: 2,362
- Monday, Oct. 21: 2,678
Including nursing home and mailed-in ballots, 15,243 voters had cast their ballots in five days of early voting. That’s more than the total number of votes in the March primaries (12,582) and the August county election (13,327). And we still have nine days of early voting, plus Election Day, still to come.
Lines each day have stretched from the Montgomery County Election Commission Office out the door and around the corner courtyard. But the line moves quickly, with typical times to vote – from joining the line to leaving the office – taking 30 to 45 minutes.
For the first time, early voting will be held in a third location, at RichEllen Park on Highway 149, but it doesn’t open there until Oct. 26. Here is the early voting schedule:
