Dwight Anthony Berry passed away from pancreatic cancer in his home on February 16, 2016, surrounded by the love of his wife, Pam, and their cherished animals; dogs – Radar, Rufus, and Pepper, and cat – Rocky.

A Clarksville native and graduate of the Montgomery Central High School Class of 1973, Dwight was born on October 31, 1955 to Wilbur Morris Berry, Sr. (deceased) and Helen (Suiter) Berry.

Dwight recently retired from a career in computer software, which brought him to the City of Clarksville’s IT department.

Dwight served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where his son Robert Anthony Berry was born in 1979. Colorado is also where later he met and married his wife of 20 years, Pamela (Pappas) Berry.

Athleticism was always important to Dwight and some of the highlights of his life included teaching martial arts and learning how to box from the U.S. Air Force Academy head boxing coach. Dwight loved to golf, mountain bike, snow ski, and most recently his greatest enjoyment came from dancing with his wife. Dwight and Pam were common faces at local dance events for many years.

Music was an important part of Dwight’s life and he was a passionate Beatles fan. He served as a wedding DJ for many years in both Colorado and Tennessee. Prior to his DJ business and a degenerative eye condition, Dwight owned and operated a wedding videography business in Colorado where his love of music and extensive computer skills helped him produce moving tribute videos set to music for hundreds of married couples. Dwight also got great joy in frequently donating his various services as both a DJ and videographer in support of the military and other charitable causes.

The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice and Oasis In-Home Care for their care and support during Dwight’s final days. In addition, thank you to the staff at Vanderbilt Hospital who assisted Dwight in his battle with cancer for three years.

Dwight is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Pam; son, Bob; stepdaughter, Tiffany Noelle; mother, Helen; brother, Wilbur Morris Berry, Jr.; sister, Star Berry; and many friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Dwight’s Dad, Morris Berry.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 20, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with ceremony at 11:30 AM, at the Liberty Park Pavilion, 1190 Cumberland Drive, Clarksville, TN 37040, by the dog park. Dress is casual as Dwight would want everyone to enjoy a nice walk in the park.
