CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The fatal shooting on Dunlop Lane last week unfolded during an argument between two cousins, according to an arrest warrant, and the suspect’s mother was the one who turned him over to deputies.

At about 1 p.m. Dec. 29, deputies with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at the Fieldstone Village apartment complex on Dunlop Lane just outside Clarksville where they found Wannye’ Boone, 24, deceased.

According to the warrant, witnesses at the scene reported that Boone was shot by his cousin, 21-year-old Jae’Shon Bailey. Examination of the victim revealed numerous gunshot wounds.

Bailey returned to the scene with his mother, who informed deputies that her son had shot Boone, the warrant said. Bailey’s mother also provided to deputies the firearm she claims her son used.

During an interview, Bailey told deputies he shot Boone because he believed Boone had a gun during the argument. Bailey also said his cousin did not draw a gun at any point, according to the warrant. Bailey also told deputies he never approached the victim in close proximity once any rounds were fired, the warrant said.

Approximately eight shell casings found in various locations in the apartment. Specifically, there were shell casings just outside of the doorway the victim collapsed in, and one casing was located under Boone when he was moved by medical examiners. The locations of these shell casings doesn’t corroborate the actions Bailey claimed to have made, according to the warrant.

Bailey was booked into Montgomery County Jail on a charge of criminal homicide.
