CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A dump truck loaded with sand turned over on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard Tuesday morning near the Pizza Hut restaurant blocking traffic in both lanes for a short time.

There were only minor injuries reported but the cleanup, especially in the north bound lanes was expected to take a couple of hours because of the amount of sand on the roadway.
According to a police report, a semi-truck driver was traveling in the right lane and attempted to merge into the left lane, cutting off the dump truck. As the dump truck swerved, the semi-truck made a wide right-hand turn across the other truck’s lane of travel, causing the dump truck to hit the trailer and turn over.
The semi-truck driver, Roger Lyle England, was cited for failure to use due care.
