MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) will assist the Tennessee Highway Patrol in conducting a sobriety and driver license checkpoint on Friday, September 4 from 11 p.m. – 1 a.m. on Highway 48.
According to MCSO’s Public Information Officer Sandra Brandon, deputies and troopers will look for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment along with checking drivers for proper licensing. Motorists may be delayed momentarily.
The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes, according to law enforcement officials. Locations are chosen with safety considerations for the officers and the public.
MCSO will also increase patrol saturation, starting Friday through Labor Day.
“Labor Day is the day we celebrate the hard work Americans have done to make our country strong and prosperous. It also signifies a transition from summer to fall,” Sheriff John Fuson said. “We want our citizens to celebrate this holiday and enjoy the closing of summer safely and responsibly and deputies will be out in force to help ensure that.”
