Update, 12:35 p.m., Monday: Sandra Brandon, spokesperson for MCSO, has shared more details on the pursuit Sunday evening that ended in Montgomery County.
At approximately 8 p.m., Stewart County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle.
According to a Facebook post by SCSO, the driver of the convertible vehicle could not produce a valid drivers license and when a deputy attempted to run the suspect through NCIC, the driver of the vehicle, Donald James Robinson, 40, fled at a high rate of speed.
When Robinson crossed into Montgomery County, deputies with the MCSO provided back-up.
As Robinson continued to evade law enforcement, he fired multiple rounds at deputies from his moving vehicle. A Stewart County Patrol vehicle and a Montgomery County Patrol vehicle were hit by gunfire in the windshield. He also rear-ended a Montgomery County unmarked patrol vehicle during the pursuit.

Robinson eventually crashed his car at the end of Calvert Drive, and after a search by MCSO and SCSO deputies along with a SCSO K9 unit, he was apprehended outside a mobile home in the area.
Robinson is also facing charges in Stewart County.
Update, 9 a.m., Monday: 40-year-old Donald James Robinson has been identified as the suspect in the two-county chase and foot pursuit Sunday evening, MCSO spokesperson Sandra Brandon has confirmed to Clarksville Now.
Robinson is charged with three counts of aggravated assault against a first responder, two counts of evading arrest, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count driving on a suspended or revoked license. He is also charged with one count of drug possession, one count of drug paraphernalia, two weapons charges, one count of property theft and being fugitive.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A driver who fired shots at deputies from Stewart and Montgomery counties was arrested Sunday night after crashing during a pursuit.
At about 8 p.m. at U.S. Highway 79 and Bagsby Hill in Stewart County, Deputies Casey Wilburn and Aaron Taylor made a traffic stop, according to Paulette Redman, spokesperson for the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office.
When Wilburn went back to his vehicle to run the subject through NCIC, the subject took off toward Montgomery County.
The deputies pursued the vehicle, and during the pursuit, the subject threw items from the vehicle and shot at Wilburn three times, Redman said.

The pursuit continued into Montgomery County, and the subject shot at a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office vehicle and rammed an MCSO unit during the crash, Redman said. The subject then ran from the scene.
Deputies were joined by Clarksville Police in searching the area of Britton Springs Road and Garrettsburg Road, according to MCSO. At one point, residents in the Calvert Drive and Britton Springs area in northwest Clarksville were asked to stay in their houses.
Sgt. Robbie MacDonald and K-9 Harry tracked and found the subject at a nearby trailer. The subject is now in custody.
No deputies were injured.
