CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Several dozen brave souls took part in the Polar Plunge at the New Providence Pool Saturday morning.

While the temperature outside was about 50 degrees at the time, the low the night before was only 19, and City Councilman Brian Zacharias reported the water was “a few Kelvin above absolute zero.” Councilwoman Deanna McLaughlin also took the leap.

The plunge was a benefit for the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s special needs swim lesson programs, helping the city offer free or reduced prices to families in need.
