CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Jax Taylor, the owner of Caprine Fitness in downtown Clarksville, joins the nearly 10% of businesses owned by veterans in the United States. Landing a location on Strawberry Alley allows Taylor the ability to be community focused.

With hundreds of people visiting downtown on a daily basis, Taylor says she wants to provide fitness-focused options. Weekly classes offered include yoga, goat-yoga, Zumba, and POP Pilates.

Taylor says the visible changes in behavior and the mental and physical benefits for class participants prompted the start of her business venture.

“My favorite class is goat yoga and it is rewarding to see the goats bring the same joy they bring me to my clients,” she said. “Goats are powerful therapy animals that are usually overlooked.”

Taylor joins the growing number of Tennessee residents who are starting businesses to positively impact the local community. Yoga naturally fosters a community of trust, vulnerability and lasting memories. The daily stresses become less as individuals from different backgrounds connect and improve their physical fitness while building relationships.

“Classes are predominately attended by women but men are always welcome. I believe in providing a safe space to help reduce stress, increase self-esteem and inspire participants to take care of themselves. The classes offered at my facility help with connecting people to the downtown community,” Taylor said.

For guidance on growing a business in Montgomery County, Taylor sought out the free services of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center located on the campus of Austin Peay State University.

“I recommend anyone interested in starting or growing a business visit them. The invaluable information will be of benefit to small business owners,” she said.
