The Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC) is proud to announce an exhibit of fine art photography by Shane Moore. The opening reception for this exhibit will be on from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on June 4.

Shane Moore was born and raised in Clarksville. He attended Austin Peay State University, earning a Bachelors degree in 2003 with a minor in Photography. He was a founding member of the DAC in 2002 and continues today as a leader and artist member. His work has been shown throughout the region and has won numerous awards.

“I am an art photographer. I seek out subjects and capture them on black & white film or color digital.” says Shane. “I love B&W film photography most of all. I love that a roll of film is finite. Film makes me really think every time I release the shutter… there is no instant gratification. Film teaches me patience.”

“You could be my silver springs
Blue green colors flashin’
I would be your only dream
Your shining autumn, ocean crashing”- Stevie Knicks, “Silver Springs”

Of the title of the exhibit Moore says, “One night in May, I was in the darkroom printing. The song ‘Silver Springs’ (a great old song) was playing and I had an ‘exhibit title epiphany.’ ” He goes on to say of the lyrics that inspired the title, “ ‘Silver’ represents my darkroom work. ‘Springs’ represents many things to me: new beginnings and rebirth, something pure and precious that brings life and hope. The ‘Blue green colors flashing’ and ‘shining autumn’ represents colors in my work. ‘I would be your only dream,’ well, that is for my wife Jaime… she is my love, my friend, my inspiration and my only dream.” Also featured in “Silver Springs” is the art of Jane Moore, the newest DAC Member and Shane’s wife.

The DAC will be serving up appetizers, punch and wine for the opening, always a central part of Clarksville’s “First Thursday Art Walk,” a wonderful evening of art, music and more in beautiful Historic Downtown Clarksville. First Thursday Art Walk occurs regularly on the first Thursday of each month.

DAC is open from noon until 4 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, visit the DAC website or Facebook page.
